A blanket that does more than to keep kids warm in bed…

From Lulla Bed comes this LED story blanket that runs 2 minute stories, complete with sight and sounds, that will let your child’s imagination run wild. After the story is over, it’s followed by a sleep mode option that supposedly helps your kids get to sleep faster.

Although judging by how exciting this blanket looks, I think it will keep children more alert rather than sleepy. But at least it’s a great idea to encourage kids to go to bed and set a routine.

According to this report, firm mattresses are best in reducing the risks that may befall babies while they are tucked in their bed or crib. Parents are also advised to put less of the frills on baby cribs, such as too many pillows or stuffed animals, because while they may look cute or provide comfort, your babies may be left helpless among these accessories.

Infant deaths due to unsafe sleeping conditions are on the rise in Ontario, leading the province’s deputy chief coroner to warn parents not to sleep with babies or put them in overcrowded cribs.

Crib mattress sheets can sometimes come off your baby’s bed. This can put your baby at harm as he or she may entangle himself or restrict breathing. Parents need to provide a mattress sheet that can stay securely in place even as the baby moves around a lot.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as of yet, and the company was able to determine the problem early.

Parens who have purchased the item between September 2006 and March 2007 should contact the company and ask for replacement. They should check the model number in the crib’s underside. These are the ones that should be returned and replaced with a proper mattress: Model Numbers - 660321, 660320, 660301,660305, 660318, 652268, 652269, 652246, 652247 and 652248.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled Jubee Bunk Beds, a Danish manufactured bed which has about 500 units distributed in the US. The bunks unfortunately have wooden side slats that were not installed properly, causing the collapse of the upper bunk. While there have been no serious injuries on record, a total of seven incidents have been reported.

Jubee Bunk Beds are made especially for kids. It is designed in maple wood and has a step ladder and pull-out drawers. The bed does not have any label. Note that the safety commission is asking for only the recall of model number 82008.

By any means, this isn’t something a person uses because it’s actually a doll house mattress sold at Doll House Sets and it is perhaps no bigger than the palm of you hand. But it kind of reminds me of the Vividus Mattress by Hastens, the one sold for $50,000 US.

Ahhh…kids. They always fight about who gets to sleep on the top bunk. As a child, I’ve also experienced that. My siblings and I would always try and outdo and outwit each other when it comes to who gets to sleep on the upper deck.

But the lower bunk need not be ignored. Some parents try and make the lower bed more appealing by making it a bigger area and adding all sorts of bedding accessories, including toys, there. You could also put a softer and more comfortable mattress on the lower bunk, to encourage kids to choose that area over the top bunk. It might put an end to all the arguments.
