I named it ‘dear diary’ because it mostly focuses on Harems and how women in them have to put up with being sex slaves. i wanted to rip up the mattress and write a sort of confessional diary under the surface to portray how the women keep their pain inside and the black ink parts on the surface around the swirled hot glue represent sin and darkness taking over the souls of the women. its a travesty, but these women feel like its their duty to please their husbands.
The artist did this using a baby mattress as a canvass. Pretty powerful form of expression, isn’t it?
