It’s a good thing this complaint turned out well and that the company extended what was its responsibility to the consumer:

Ed and his wife Geri knew the mattress had a 10-year warranty, so when Mattress Firm sent out a rep to conduct a complete exam, the couple thought they’d be getting a new one.”A few days later Mattress Firm sent us a letter saying the mattress wasn’t bad enough for them to do anything about it.”

The couple accepted the decision. They then spent another year with the indents and humps in their mattress. Ed decided to call Mattress Firm again.

“They wouldn’t answer the phone, they wouldn’t acknowledge my calls, they wouldn’t call me back. I was getting nowhere.”

Ed felt it was time to Call 12 for Action. After we talked to Mattress Firm reps, the company sent out another inspector.

“It was only a matter of a few days. We got a letter from Mattress Firm saying they were going to allow us $1300 toward the purchase of a new mattress.”

Ed and Geri used the money to buy another Mattress Firm product– and it feels good. It feels so good in fact, their advice to others with mattress troubles: Don’t let the discomfort linger.

“I think be more persistent, cause I let it go too long. Thanks a million, I really appreciate all the help they gave me.”

To its credit, Mattress Firm did respond quickly each time Ed ask them to inspect the mattress. In the end, the company felt the problem was not to the extent the Deimling’s believed it was, but resolved the matter anyway as a gesture of goodwill.
