If you’ve purchased a new memory foam mattress and sense a faint smell emitting from it, that is known as off-gassing and may be a common or normal occurrence. But this may bother some people just the same. Sometimes the smell could last for weeks. And the truth is a lot of memory foam mattresses do off-gas.
