Really tall people have a difficulty finding the right mattress. Often, they have to contend with custom made orders, which can be very costly. But the price tall people pay for their mattress should be worth the it. That is, compared to finding themselves in the most uncomfortable sleeping position, with their feet dangling onto the floor.

Standard mattresses can go upto 6ft and 3in long. But according to the Sleep Council, taller people should have beds that are at least 8″ longer than their actual height. So, what if you’re already 6ft 3in?

We’ve got a few recommendations. Ikea sells extra long mattresses. You could also try Long Beds UK and Tall Paul’s Tall Mall.

Several years ago, I came up with my own solution. I bought 2 cheap bookcases, about four feet tall. Placed them against the wall, and mounted a 10″ wide board at mattress-height between them. Put a cushion on the board. Placed bed & mattress in front of the board. Since your head doesn’t really need the full support of the mattress, and you use pillows anyway, this worked pretty slick. It effectively made my bed 10″ longer. Just a suggestion — via Half Bakery
