Mattress Firm of Houston said today that it intends to buy Mattress Gallery, a Los Angeles-based chain with nine locations in Orange County. Upon completion of the deal, Mattress Gallery locations will turn into Mattress Firm stores and adopt its expanded product selection. The transaction is expected to be complete within 60 days.
Mattress Gallery locations are similar to Mattress Firm stores, averaging 3,000 to 4,000 square feet. Mattress Firm is known for its high-end Sealy products.
Mattress Gallery, which sells brands like Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, has two locations in Brea and two in Laguna Niguel. Costa Mesa, Irvine, Orange, Tustin, and Yorba Linda each have one store.
“The acquisition allows Mattress Firm to enter the fast growing Southern California market … ” said Gary Fazio, CEO of Mattress Firm.
