Surely, the mattress on this bed is a lot thicker than how it looks? Maybe there’s an embed slot or space for the mattress right in the middle?

I’ve seen a lot of platform beds of this type and I don’t know about you, the simplicity of it? Can’t get enough. Suffice to say, I love this type of bed design.

The Asian-inspired Worth Japanese Style Platform Bed by Modloft features a low profile, solid hardwood frame and available matching symmetrical nightstands. Swedish bed designer, Duxiana, creates what seems like a very complicated bed to me. The Dux 8888 doesn’t really have a traditional mattress, but in its place is what they call “Adjustable Lumbar Support System” with “Personal Comfort Zones” which you can switch at any place on the bed in order to achieve what should be a very comfortable sleeping situation. What it gives is a limitless number of  configurations for you. You can adjust this base on the comfort level in your back area, leg area, hip area and so on.

I’ve been seeing more and more of floating bed designs lately, is this the new trend in bedding furniture? Beds that seem to defy physics or gravity?

Designer Andrea Lucatello (Italy) uses the finest materials for this bed, mostly made of fine leather. It aims to bring in a extra-ordinarily contemporary feel to any bedroom. You can select from four color types (black, brown, ivory and cream) in any of the three sizes (Queen, European King and Double).

I have no idea why it’s named One for Two but this bed frame, designed by Birgit Gämmerler, Rolf Huber and Iris Braun looks durable and sturdy enough. It is made of solid wood and comes in Oak, American cherry and walnut.

This is actually a great design idea from a budding designer on mySpace. It is, as the title suggests, a bed designed for older kids, and its looking quite funky yet modern, almost futuristic even. Its built and custom made for a single mattress, as most kid beds are.
