Spring Air Co., maker of Spring Air mattresses, has merged with Consolidated Bedding Inc and is now expanding its mattress operations in the United States.

Effective July 2, the chief executive officer of Spring Air will be Robert W. Hellyer, 48 of Roswell, Ga. Hellyer was most recently president of Simmons Mattress Co. Previously, he was the head of national sales for Stearns and Foster, a division of Sealy Inc. Jim Nation, the current president of The Spring Air Company, will hold the same title in the new Spring Air. Steve Antinori, currently chairman and chief executive officer of Consolidated will become chairman of the Spring Air board, the company said in a statement.

Select Comfort, one of the leading bed retailers in America, gave away one hundred six Sleep Number beds, including accessories, to the new Ronald McDonald House erected in Los Angeles.

“We are thrilled to receive Select Comfort’s generous gift of Sleep Number beds,” said Vincent Bryson, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Los Angeles. “This generous gift helps us provide much-needed and appreciated comfort to our families during their stay at this home-away-from-home.”

The Ronald McDonald House provides children with medical treatment as well as a temporary sleeping space for homeless families. Select Comfort is the house’s bed provider since 2001 and has donated over 5,000 Sleep Number beds to date, to all Ronald McDonald Houses in America.

CNN Money is reporting that Tempur-Pedic’s president and chief executive officer, H. Thomas Bryant, will be retiring from the mattress company sometimg this year. As a result, Tempur-Pedic has formed a committee with an outside executive firm overseeing the search for his new replacement.
