Selling mattresses seems like a routinary job and I never thought someone can make an interesting story out of this. Errine Dobson, a writer from Manhattan, comes up with this short piece on a day in the life of a mattress salesman.

Barrie Brown, President and CEO of Mattress Giant, said the acquisition of both Clearwater Mattress and Mattress Expo is part of the company’s goal to expand. “These two strategic growth opportunities are part of our year-long expansion and growth and these two key markets have tremendous future potential for our company,” Brown said.

Many people prefer a bigger bed or mattress and in the US, the biggest one you can get, other than having one custom-built for you, is a California king mattress. However, some homes still traditionally own a queen size mattress. A queen size mattress is big enough for someone to have a personal bed space, yet not too big enough that you almost feel like sleeping far apart against your partner. Interesting things to keep in mind when purchasing a mattress:

Firm mattresses are best for those who love to sleep on their backs. Pillow top or plush mattresses are great for side sleepers. So which one are you?

Consider your headboard and bed frame measurements in buying a new mattress. Mattresses today are thick and not making adjustments for the headboard, so your mattress could fit the entire bed, may be your problem later.

Mattresses carry a ten year warranty. If your buying for a room that won’t be used as much (like a guest room), go for the less expensive kind, to save on spendings.
